Transport stakeholders in Anambra State and participants of the just concluded maiden transport policy retreat, organized in Awka by the state government through the Ministry of Transport, have commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for making a move towards establishing the state’s transportation policy, to make the sector viable.
Correspondent Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that the Managing Director of Chinua Achebe International Cargo Airport, CAICA, Umueri, Mr Martin Nwafor who lauded Governor Soludo on the initiative and various interventions in the Anambra State Airport, explained that the state Airport has been operating only under the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and International Civil Aviation Organization, as the state does not have Air Transport Policy, expressing hope that when the new Anambra transport policy is established, that there will be great impact on the operations of the airport and other units of the state’s transport sector.
On his part, the Anambra State Rescue Operations Manager, Mr Chukwuebuka Olisa observed that the new policy will help road users, transport operators and traffic regulators become more aware of their various roles towards ensuring safety on the roads, and in the improvement of the transport sector.
