The 2025 Anambra State Nigeria Labour Congress, football competition has ended with the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, emerging as the winner after defeating the Nigeria Union of Mine Workers, 2-1 in the evening match held at Igwebuike Grammar School, Awka.
The competition, part of the activities marking May first workers’ Day celebrations in the state, was kick-off by Mr Kingsley Ikebudu, the Senior Special Assistant on Youths, Sports and Special Duties to the Mayor of Awka South LGA, after which he commended the Nigeria Labour Congress for organizing the competition.
In his remark after the competition, the Anambra Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Humphrey Nwafor, who stated that the football competition was designed to celebrate the unity and solidarity among workers in the state, announced that the Congress has also rolled out free medical tests for the state workforce as part of the events to commemorate the 2025 worker’s day, which would be held in collaboration with the State Ministry of Health and the Dr Nonye Soludo Healthy Living Initiative.
