Principals of Secondary Schools in Anambra State have been charged to involve people from their schools’ communities in all their dealings.
The Chairman, Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu gave the charge during the second term management meeting of 2023/2024 academic session held at Father Joseph Memorial High School, Aguleri.
In her paper presentation, Professor Ikediugwu explained that school community relationships can be achieved through Club of patrons, Community Based Quality Assurance and Parents Teachers Association stating that under the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the creation of the above is to increase community participation in school management.
She pointed out how a principal can identify resource persons for club of patrons, Community Based Quality Assurance Partners, as benefits of community participation and strategies principals can adopt to ensure effective school community management.
The PPSSC Chairman advised all the attendees to serve with passion and purpose even as she asked the principals to dedicate the term’s work to God and be committed to their work.
A resource person, Mr Benson Ibeh in his paper titled, “The Government’s New Quality Assurance Practices for Secondary Schools”, said that principals should always carry out their schools’ self-evaluation while external bodies carry out external validation that must be focused on the learners for proper reporting.
Speaking on the topic, “Integrating ICT in Education and School Management, Mr Chibuzo Umeghalu, another resource person, advised that every school should have at least one projector to make teachings easier and more understandable.
The meeting which had in attendance Board Members, office, zonal directors, principals among others featured praise and worship, interactive and practical sessions.
