Kindness, humility, care, benevolence, love and almsgiving were some of the attributes of the Late Ezinne Bridget Okoye that were echoed by mourners during her burial at her husband’s country home in Mgbakwu in Awka North Local Government.
The burial service which took place at Saint Stephen’s Anglican Church, Mgbakwu, attracted clergymen, relatives of the deceased, friends and other mourners.
Before her death, Ezinne Okoye was an active member of Women’s Guild, Anglican Diocese of Awka, where she was also given recognition as “Ezinne”
In a sermon at the burial service, the Archdeacon, Mgbakwu Archdeaconry and Vicar, Saint Stephen’s Parish Mgbakwu, Venerable Jason Onyeakagbusi said the Late Ezinne Okoye ran her race diligently, following Christ according to his precepts and faith, expressing the hope that she is resting in the bosom of the Lord after completing her assignment on earth.
Venerable Onyeakagbusi advised the children of the deceased to hold onto the legacies of their mother.
Speaking shortly after being interred, a member of the Women Guilds of the Church, Mrs Josephine Nnanwude disclosed that the Late Ezinne Okoye was known for her hospitality, hardwork and dedication to everything that comes her way, stating that many are already missing her gestures pleading the children to hold unto the virtues of their mother.
The first daughter of the deceased, Mrs Justina Nwankwo lamented the exit of their mother, describing her as biblical Dorcas who fought for the wellbeing of others especially women, praying God to give them the grace to continue living with peace, love, togetherness and oneness which she said was the core thing she built in them.
On his part, her first son, Obiora Oranwusi-Okoye and another of her son, Mr Hyacinth Oranwusi-Okoye said the vacuum created by their mother will be hard to fill because she was good all round and prayed for her peaceful repose.
In their separate speeches, two of the deceased daughter’s in-law, Mrs Chioma Obiora and Mrs Joy Okoye said their mother in-law was the best to be with, stating that she saw everyone as her own, noting that they will uphold her spirit of giving and other virtues she held dear.
The Late Ezinne Okoye was aged seventy-four.
