The remains of the Late Elder Mathias Onyeji of Umudim Umunnambu village, Umuomaku in Orumba South Local Government Area have been laid to rest.

 

The Late Onyeji, aged eight seven, was an evangelist and assistant leader of Marble Collegiate Redeemed Church, Onitsha Branch.

 

Survived by the wife, Mrs. Nwakaego, children and grandchildren, the Late Onyeji died on Sunday, twenty nine October, 2023.

 

His funeral service took place at his compound by the Marble Collegiate Redeemed Church, and was attended by people from all walks of life.

 

In a sermon, the Vicar in charge of St. John the Divine Cathedral, Marble Collegiate Redeemed Church, Reverend Chineme Ezeude, called for total repentance of human from iniquity and return to God because there is life after death.

 

Reverend Ezeude, who prayed for the soul of the deceased, said he was a devout Christian, peacemaker, charitable, loving and does not discriminate, urging the family to emulate their father’s steps and sustain his legacies.

 

First born of the deceased, Reverend Cannon Johnbosco Onyeji, and daughter, Mrs. Adaora Ṅnanna, described their father as a man of peace; who dislike intimidation of any kind, saying that his death has created a huge vacuum no one can fill.

 

He noted that his father left legacies of peace and justice, sponsoring the less privileged and giving scholarship to indigent students.

 

Reverend Cannon Onyeji promised to sustain his father’s legacies, praying God to grant him eternal repose and give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

 

The event featured condolences from family members, friends and well-wishers.
