Governor Chukwuma Soludo has commended the efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces, as well as the state Vigilante Group, in liberating the eight local government areas which were hitherto under the siege of criminal non-state actors.
Governor Soludo stated this during a thanksgiving mass to commemorate the Armed Forces Day celebration at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka.
According to the Governor, the professionalism and commitment of the Armed Forces, as well as the support from the State Vigilante Group and Ndi Anambra, aided the return of peace to the state.
Governor Soludo lauded those who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, noting that the role of security officials remains pivotal in peace and progress of any society, praying for God’s protection as they continue to serve the people.
While delivering a homily, the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, Reverend Father Charles Ndubuisi said that God is on the lookout for people he will use to serve others, tasking the people on increased purpose in their daily activities.
The State Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, the Chief Judge of Anambra state, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, service commanders, members of the executive, legislature, judiciary, among others, were also part of the mass celebration.
