Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has lauded the armed forces for their dedicated service to the public and the nation.
The Governor gave the commendation during a mass commemorating the 2024 Armed Forces Day Celebration at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka.
Correspondent, Emmanuel Chigbata reports that in his address Governor Soludo lauded the armed forces’ professionalism and commitment, recognizing their role in addressing insecurity, especially in the eight local government areas previously under siege.
He attributed the peaceful Christmas season and mass return of Ndị Anambra to the restoration of peace, law, and order in the state.
The Governor extended prayers to the souls of those who lost their lives in the line of duty, emphasizing the importance of the day in honoring current and ex-servicemen.
In homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, delivered through the Diocesan Chancellor, Reverend Father Charles Ndubisi, called for military effectiveness, urging servicemen to focus on their mandates and avoid distractions in their duties.
Bishop Ezeokafor expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for safeguarding the state and encouraged continued cooperation between the service commanders and the governor for enhanced safety.
Among the dignitaries present at the celebration were the state Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, members of the three arms of government, service commanders , commissioners, and other political appointees.
