It was a moment of sadness and sober reflection for the family, friends, management and staff of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, during the burial/funeral ceremony of Late Mrs. Nneka Anoliefo at Ireh village, Umuoji, Idemili North Council Area.

 

The Late Mrs. Anoliefo, by her singular act of returning money belonging to a traditional ruler during one of their meetings, was bestowed with the name, “Ada Ndi Igwe Anambra,” in appreciation of her good deed.

She was a member of the News and Current Affairs Department of the ABS before her death on fifth December, 2023 at the age of forty-eight.

 

The burial ceremony had practicing and retired Anambra-based Journalists, leadership of the Anambra State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, friends and well-wishers in attendance.

In a sermon, Reverend Augustine Okoji reminded Christians of the finality of death for all mortals, and emphasized the need for everyone to live a life to be remembered when they are gone.

 

He noted that the late Mrs. Anoliefo lived a fulfilled life; not minding her short stay on earth and share of challenges of life.

 

The eldest daughter of the deceased, Miss Chiamaka, described her mother as a virtuous woman and disciplinarian; who loved and cared for her children and people around her.

The second and last child, Miss Chimamanda said her mother was a kind and fearless woman; who was dedicated in all she did regretting that, she is no more alife to eat the fruits of her labour.

 

The Anambra State NUJ Chairman, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, who prayed God to console the family, especially the children, said the late Mrs. Anoliefo lived a simply life, was always calm and unassuming, and made peace wherever she found herself.

 

In her remark, the Acting Director of News and Current Affairs of the ABS, Mrs. Judy-Jeff Nwabueze, described the late Mrs. Anoliefo as a gem and someone who had passion for her job, and urged all to live purposeful life.

On her part, a friend to the deceased, Mrs. Oggorchukwu Oranu of ABS explained that the late Mrs. Anoliefo would always be remembered by her good deeds, as she was humble and sincere to all who came in contact with her
