Governor Chukwuma Soludo has re-instated the traditional ruler of Neni Community, Anaocha Local Government Area, Igwe Damian Ezeani.
Governor Soludo disclosed this during a meeting with the members of Anambra State traditional rulers’ council, held yesterday in Awka.
In a release signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mrs. Christian Aburime said that governor Soludo has also forgiven the traditional ruler of Ojoto, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu and that of Aguluezechukwu, Igwe Felix Ebelendu.
Mr. Aburime who said that the meeting was part of consultative meetings with stakeholders by governor Soludo towards the executives of the Soludo agenda for year 2024, noted that the governor also briefed the traditional rulers on the major milestones of his administration in the past twenty-two months and solicited their cooperation as stakeholders under the Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP), a strategy of his administration geared towards the rapid development of Anambra State.
On his part, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon. Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, assured the Traditional Rulers that government holds them in high esteem, and look forward to continuing working with them and clarified some of the issues leading to the suspension of a traditional ruler and query to two others, assuring them that everything was done in the spirit of ensuring law and order in the State.
Hon. Nwabunwanne also highlighted the concerns of some traditional rulers over the composition of members of the traditional Rulers Council and stated that such concerns and similar issues are being looked into by the government.
Earlier, the traditional ruler of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, reaffirmed the unalloyed solidarity and support of the State Traditional Rulers for the government of Governor Soludo, and assured the government that the Traditional Rulers are ready to partner with the government in its efforts to transform Anambra State into a livable and prosperous homeland.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that a committee made up of five Traditional Rulers, as well as the officers of government will meet to consider the amendment of the relevant sections and any other section of the Traditional Rulers law deemed pertinent for a review, even as the legal status of Igwe Nawfia community was clarified by governor Soludo.
