The traditional ruler of Awka community, Obi Gibson Nwosu, has said that he received news of the sudden death of the onetime Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Gabriel Anayo Nnebe, with rude shock.

Speaking in his palace, Obi Nwosu described the late Honorable Nnebe as a true and committed son of Awka community; who always said the truth and stood his ground; no matter whose ox was gored.

The Awka monarch said that during his time as the member representing Awka South Constituency One, Speaker of the Anambra state House of Assembly, as well as member of the House of Representatives for Awka North and South, the late Nnebe used his constituency funds to make indelible impact in the community.

While describing the death of Right Honorable Nnebe at the age of sixty-one as sad and unfortunate, Obi Nwosu said that Awka community will find a way of immortalizing him; in view of his contributions to the growth of the community in particular and Anambra State in general.

He disclosed that it was as a result of the positive contributions of the fallen former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly that he conferred on him the chieftaincy title of “Icheledikeorah Awka” during one of the Egwu Uzu festivals of Awka community, saying that the fallen lawmaker will be greatly missed by the community.

Obi Nwosu urged his wife, children, family, relations and those he left behind to take solace in the fact that the late Right Honorable Nnebe lived a fulfilled life, praying God to grant his soul eternal rest.
