The Commissioner for Education Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has warned parents not to compromise the quality of their children’s education because of money.
Addressing some parents of Nkisi Regent Schools Fegge Onitsha, who were in her office to protest the increment of fees by the management of the school, Commissioner Chuma-Udeh said that the parents have no justification to query a private school management on strategy adopted to maintain quality and remain afloat in the present economic realities.
The Commissioner maintained that the Ministry will only intervene when standard is compromised, or when a child’s welfare is trampled upon.
Professor Chuma-Udeh said that the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has made choice easier for parents by declaring free education in Anambra State public schools.
She advised them to either pay what the school demanded, take their children to a private school that charges less or the public school which had been made free, instead of making trouble.
The Education Commissioner insisted that the Ministry will not decide for any private business man what to charge for his or her goods or services.
