As part of its corporate social responsibility, Sir Emeka Offor Foundation has distributed forty thousand bags of rice to some-widows in the one hundred and seventy-nine communities of Anambra State.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo was among distinguished guests at the event which was also used to celebrate the sixty-fifth birthday of the Founder of the Foundation in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
Also, free textbooks were distributed to over two hundred institutions at the event, which brought together business executives and experts aimed at promoting sustainable business practices and encouraging companies and individuals to be more socially and environmentally responsible.
Speaking on the Occasion, Governor Soludo who expressed support to the foundation’s mission towards promoting corporate social responsibility and extolled the efforts of the Foundation in promoting social and environmental sustainability, and encouraged business executives and people across the State to follow their example.
Governor Soludo said that by choosing to celebrate his birthday in Oraifite, with thousands of widows, students and the vulnerable, Sir Emeka Offor has demonstrated that Anambra is the place to be.
While stressing that in a time like this when Nigeria is passing through food price hikes and inflation, people should learn to take collective action and share what they have with one another, because the resources at government disposal are limited.
He assured that his government will continue to play its own constitutional role, calling for more support for his administration’s Public-Private-Community-Partnership model as the best panacea for development in the short term.
For the Special Adviser to the Founder of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation on Partnership, Philanthropy and Humanitarian Activities, Ijeoma Okoro, who is also the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation Peace Fellows Co-ordinator, the event by the Foundation was a significant step in promoting Corporate social responsibility and encouraging sustainable business practices.
Former Senate President, Dr Ken Nnamani, Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Barrister Joachin Anaeto, widows, among others, attended the event which also featured music presentation by Divine Melody Singers, cutting of the birthday cake and distribution of bags of rice to widows, free textbooks to students, as well as match past.
