Southeast Governors have been urged to emulate Governor Chukwuma Soludo on mass infrastructural development to launch the region on the course of sustainable development.
Speaking in Awka, the Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene said that this would give the people more dividends of democracy.
Chief Okeke Ogene noted that the Governor has made visible achievements in various sectors and has intervened in areas hitherto neglected by successive administrations, including access roads to rural communities, repositioning the education and health sectors as well as empowering and employing youths in productive ventures to tackle unemployment and social vices.
He extolled the pace and quality of work at the ongoing Ekwulobia Flyover project and access roads in the area as well as the standard concrete drainages which he noted would further increase the life span of the roads.
Chief Okeke Ogene expressed satisfaction with the proposed reconstruction of Amawbia-Agulu-Nanka-Ekwulobia road to link Akokwa town in Imo state, noting that such inter connectivity would boost socioeconomic activities in the Southeast region and enhance collaboration in other areas, including efficient and effective security network to secure the zone.
He also stressed the need for interconnectivity in the rail transport system to enhance movement in the five states.
Also speaking, a trader, Mr. Pius Nkemdilim observed that the mass construction of roads in various parts of the state and local governments areas is already decongesting major roads and will reduce cost of transportation of goods and passengers when prices of petroleum products adjust downwards.
