Capacity building has been described as one of the ways to achieving the goals of teaching and learning.
The Chairman Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu stated this while addressing participants at the ongoing three-day Train the Trainer’s Workshop for School Safety and Security Response Team organized by the Office of the Director Education Support Services, Ministry of Education, Abuja.
Professor Ikediugwu affirmed that Nigeria is facing series of security challenges but urged the participating teachers to make maximum use of the opportunity to equip themselves and ensuring to re-train teachers and all relevant staff and students in their individual schools on ways of keeping the schools safe using global best practices.
The Chairman stated that the world is rapidly changing and technological advancements have become a significant aspect in the daily lives of man and noted that capacity building goes a long way to exposing teachers on the modern trend to enhance teaching as well as provides opportunities for participants to collaborate and work in teams.
She urged the participants to assimilate every topic of the three-day workshop.
Professor Ikediugwu appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for being education friendly and the Education Commissioner, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh for attracting the organizers to the State.
Earlier in an opening address, Director of Education Support Services, Dr. L.I. Giginna, said that other parts of the country experience abduction, killings and destruction of school property while the South East and South-South experience attacks on education through Monday sit at home, flooding and kidnappings.
Highpoint of the event was presentation of Manuals and books to the Chairman by the Staff of the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.
