Anambra state governor’s wife, Nonye Soludo, says she is closely monitoring the case of a woman who abused her eleven-year-old maid in Onitsha.
Mrs. Soludo, who was speaking in Awka in reaction to the arrest of the suspect, Mrs. Adachukwu Okafor, assured that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that full justice is served.
While promising to ensure that the case is used as a deterrent to those who have no regard for human dignity and rights, the Governor’s wife maintained that anyone who violates the rights of another will be made to face the law.
Mrs. Okafor, a Pastor in a local church, allegedly left her eleven-year-old maid in terrible condition after the girl was said to have mistakenly touched her son’s private part while giving him a bath.
The suspect was later declared wanted by the state and federal governments, prompting security operatives to go after her , which led to her eventual arrest.
The Governor’s wife, who disclosed that the suspect has already been charged to court, promised to keep personal track of the proceedings, including updates on court dates, decisions and judgement.
She stated that the maid, who was rushed to the hospital after she was inflicted severe injuries by the said guardian, is now in a stable condition, with the state government now taking full care of her recovery.
Mrs. Soludo further reiterated her commitment to fighting all forms of abuses on women and children in Anambra State, reiterating that the state remains a red zone for abusers and traffickers alike.
