In line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s initiative towards achieving a sustainable healthy, clean and livable Anambra State, the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area, Sir Ogochukwu Ekwueme has inaugurated “Operation Keep Orumba North Clean” Initiative.
The ceremony which took place at the council headquarters Ajalli attracted critical stakeholders including traditional rulers, Presidents-General, party faithful, women, youth and market union leaders amongst others.
Speaking during the event Sir Ogochukwu emphasized that the programme was also aimed at creating awareness and sensitizing the people on the need for conscious and collective responsibility towards proper waste disposal and warned that indiscriminate dumping of refuse will attract severe penalties.
He pointed out that the Dobe Orumba North Ocha initiative and security of lives and property is top on the agenda of the Governor Soludo-led administration and called on Presidents-General, women, market and youth leaders to get involved and join hands towards building a healthy, livable and prosperous Orumba North.
Also speaking, the member representing Orumba North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly Dr Paul Obuh while lauding Governor Soludo’s developmental strides in the State, stressed the importance of a clean and healthy environment for the people of Orumba North.
He called for support to the initiative to ensure a cleaner, healthier, and prosperous Orumba North Local Government Area by ensuring constant and proper sanitation exercise to avoid polluting the environment.
In his remarks, the traditional ruler of Ndiokpalaeze, Igwe Chidozie Okoli while expressing happiness with the brilliant initiative, lauded Governor Soludo and Orumba North Council Chairman, Sir Ogochukwu for the wonderful programme.
Dignitaries who attended the programme include the Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Orumba North Local Government, Chief Cyril Nwobu, Former Member for Orumba North in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Sir Emeka Aforka, Orumba North ASATU Youth Leader, Comrade Alfred Robinson, councilors, among others.
Inauguration of Waste, Sanitation and Hygiene Committee by the Orumba North Transition Committee Chairman, and that of the Task Force Team on Environment which was done by the member representing Orumba North in the State House of Assembly and distribution of waste bins and bags were the highpoints of the event.
