Anambra State Government has organized a befitting burial for the late Mr Chuka Dennis Ikeh, of Uruagu Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area.
Following a report made by the widow of late Ikeh Mrs Ngozi Ikeh alleged that her sister’s in-law refused to allow her husband to be buried in peace, the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs Mrs Ify Obinabo intervened into the matter.
After all errors were rectified through the help of the state Ministry of Women Affairs, it was agreed that since the necessary parties involved were not duly informed and carried along in the burial as directed by the court, the body of late Chuka Dennis Ikeh would be buried while the family will go home and make arrangements for the funeral.
Speaking immediately after the interment Mrs Obiano represented by her Special Assistant Mrs Blessing Nweke commended Nnewi people for standing for justice and warned that the Soludo led All-Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, government will not tolerate any form of rascality and oppression against any widow in the state.
She advised the family to embrace peace and come together to plan the funeral ceremony.
Appreciating the Women Affairs Commissioner, one of the cousins of the deceased, Mr Aloysius Ikeh noted that the presence of the state government was felt especially as it ensured that his brother had been laid to rest and prayed God to continue to bless them.
