Anambra State Government has noticed with dismay the unwarranted display of goods and wares on the newly constructed roads and sidewalks, obstructing free flow of vehicular movement and pedestrians.
A statement by the Commissioner for Information Sir Paul Nwosu said that these incidents defeat the purpose for which these newly constructed roads and sidewalks were made.
It said that this is particularly noticeable along Obodoukwu Road, Niger Street, Port Harcourt Road and a number of other locations where brand new roads have been constructed by the state government.
It directed traders to display their goods and wares, one point two meters away from the road or sidewalks at it said that roads are meant for motor vehicles while sidewalks are meant for pedestrians.
By this notice, traders are therefore warned to desist from displaying or selling or hawking items on this unauthorized places as anybody caught will be arrested and prosecuted.
