The Anambra State House of Assembly has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his commitment to constructing quality roads within the Anambra South Senatorial Zone of the state.
During a tour of selected road projects in the area, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze and other lawmakers from the zone expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of works done by the present administration.
The roads visited were: Ufuma-Awa-Ndiukwuenu-Amansea road; Ajalli-Akpu-Nawfija-Ufuma-Ogbunka road, Ezira-Umuomaku-Enugwu Umuonyia road; Ikenga-Igboukwu road, Ekwulobia Flyover, bus terminal and satellites road project and Okpunoeze-Nnewi Hotel Road.
The legislative arm of government is responsible for passing annual appropriation budgets and ensuring that funds earmarked for projects are judiciously utilized by the executive.
This explains why the lawmakers, led by the Speaker, Right Honourable Udeze, decided to inspect some road projects spanning seven local government areas in the Anambra South Senatorial district of the State.
Right Honourable Udeze expressed amazement at the progress of road construction in the area and applauded the governor for delivering on his promises even as he commended the contractors for their commendable pace of work, while urging residents to support the Soludo-led Government which has demonstrated the capacity to enhance the state’s infrastructure significantly.
In their remarks, the member representing Orumba North Constituency, Honourable Paul Obu, his Aguata constituency two counterpart, Honourable Tony Moubike and member representing Aguata Constituency one, Honourable Anayo Okpalaeke observed that the completed roads will facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce and ensure the free flow of traffic in their constituencies.
Also speaking, the member representing Nnewi North Constituency, Honourable Augustine Ike and Honourable Nonso Atuchukwu representing Nnewi South Two, noted that previous administrations had neglected the Okpunoeze-Nnewi Hotel Road until Governor Soludo came onboard and that he has earned the trust of the people.
On his part, the member representing Ihiala Constituency One and Chief Whip of the House, Honourable Jude Ngobili commended the governor for awarding various road projects and expressed the hope that such gestures will extend to his constituency as promised by the governor.
The lawmaker representing Onitsha North Constituency One, Honourable Justice Azuka, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Mrs Stephanie Kery-Uzor were among the dignitaries on the inspection train.
