The Commissioner for Special Duties in Anambra State, Barrister Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche says mothers are key to building a sustainable and value-driven society.
She stated this in a goodwill message to Mothers in the Anglican Church as they celebrate their Mothers Sunday.
Mothers Sunday is celebrated in the Anglican Church worldwide on fourth Sunday in Lent, providing an opportunity for the church to celebrate the critical role of mothers in building a godly home and the future.
Congratulating the women on the celebration, Barrister Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche explained that although both parents are important in the child upbringing the natural role of nurturing children on women puts them at the centre of building a society that is founded on sustainable values.
She maintained that for the values of any society to last beyond generations and made sustainable, mothers must take it upon themselves to provide an exemplary lifestyle for their children and wards.
The Special Duties Commissioner called on the Church not to renege on its responsibility of providing a platform for the grooming of god-fearing young girls into mothers reminding mothers that they are at the forefront of the vanguard to guarantee a society that protects and promotes human rights and equality of persons through the kind of values they teach their children and wards; and the way they treat children that are not their biological offsprings.
