All For Women Initiative Nigeria, A-WIN in collaboration with Anambra State Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare has held a road show in Awka and its environs to round up its activities in commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day.

 

During the walk, women were urged to live healthily through regular exercise.

The President of A-WIN, Comrade Stella Igboka, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, the National Chairperson of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Aisha Ibrahim Kwaya-Bura, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aderemi Adeoye, Mrs. Chinelo Obikwelu, Founder Solution Kitchen, led the work that had Police Officers Wives Association, POWA, FIDA, students, lovers of women activities and partnering agencies as participants.

Kicking off the road show, Commissioner Obinabo thanked the women for making the week a fruitful one while using the occasion to celebrate, educate and support one another and revealed that the road show is to enable women socialise, relax, and network.

She pointed out that regular exercise is a major footnote of the present administration championed through the pet project of the wife of the Governor, Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo and asked the women to be mindful of what they and their families eat.

 

Lending his voice, the Anambra Police Commissioner, Mr. Adeoye who was joined by his wife, Bolanle, expressed satisfaction with the commitment and desire of the women to keep fit and support one another.

They assured the women of their continuous support and partnership in combating criminal and civil offences against women and the girl child in the state.

 

On her part, Comrade Igboka thanked God for using her achieve some of the yearnings of the women folk and appreciated the traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka, the member representing Oyi and Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Honourable Maureen Gwacham, Mrs. Ngozi Obukwelu and the police for their sponsorship and partnership in giving the Nigerian and Anambra women in particular a remarkable and memorable 2024 International Women’s Day celebration.

The A-WIN founder urged mothers, children and neighbours to speak up about any ill-treatment or abusive relationship of all kinds for immediate redress.

 

During the road show, the women danced from the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka through Aroma Junction to Ziks Avenue and terminated at Eke Awka market.
