Christians have been charged to always feel lively and cheerful in the presence of God.

 

The Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese Right Reverend Prosper Amah who gave the charge at the Anglican church of the Messiah Ogbeukwu under Odekpe Archdeaconry during a special service to mark the 2024 Mothers Sunday, urged Christians to not allow the present hardship in the country put undue pressure on them.

Right Reverend Amah urged the children of God to always maintain their pride as the light and salt of the earth, reminding them of the need to open their hearts to always receive the word of God which is key to salvation.

 

The Ogbaru Diocesan Bishop who said that the essence of Mother’s Sunday in the Anglican church Worldwide which is celebrated on fourth Sunday in lent was to break the Lenten fast to get a renewed energy to move with Christ in the remaining days of the forty days Lenten season.

He described Mothers as the mirror of both the home and larger society, and cautioned Mothers against acts capable of debasing Womanhood reminding them of the need to be submissive to their husbands in addition to giving all their children equal love in order to create harmony in their various homes.

 

Bishop Amah who described Marriage as a sacred institution ordained by God called on couples to always maintain the sanctity of marriage institution and blamed the high rate of divorce in the society on the lack of knowledge of God by married couples.

He encouraged the faithful to always align themselves with God in order to inherit His Kingdom, and charged those in leadership positions to desist from making policies that will continue to impoverish the masses.

 

In a remark the president of the Women’s Ministry in Ogbaru Diocese Dr Uche Amah who spoke on various inhuman treatment being meted to women especially widows called for the abolition of all harmful practices that negate the development of women especially the girl child.

 

She called for the appointment of more women into positions of trust since according to her women are better managers of resources.

The priest in charge of the Anglican church of the Messiah Ogbeukwu, Reverend Chidi Anekwe called on husband and wife to always see child upbringing as a collective responsibility in order to ensure effective and balanced parenting.

 

The service which was facilitated by wife of the Vicar of the church Mrs. Nkemdilim Anekwe featured playlet by the women of the church depicting the role of women in Nation building, seed of testimony cutting of the Mothers Sunday cake, and series of prayers for various families, Anambra State and the Nigerian Nation in distress.
