Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has commissioned the three point two kilometers Okpunoeze road, Nnewi in Nnewi North Council Area.
Performing the function as part of activities to mark his administration’s second year in office, Governor Soludo promised to lead the way in developing Nnewi city.
According to the Governor, his government is designing an infrastructure master plan for the state for the next two hundred years, assuring of dualizing the roads where the next generation of Ndị Anambra will live.
The Governor enumerated some ongoing projects including the Isaho to Teaching Hospital Road, Nnewi to Ozubulu to Okija and Express road, adding that he wants to ensure that to connect Nnewi to Awka, the State capital, it will only take twenty minutes’ drive, assuring to dualize the Nnewi to Adazi Ani to Nwagu Agulu road.
Governor Soludo noted that in line with the APGA mantra of leave no one behind, his government is ready to partner with the people of Nnewi to develop the city, calling on the people living in Abuja to begin to join hands with his government to grow the state to enviable heights
He also assured of constructing Ekwulọbịa to Uga road, among others.
He explained that the test run currently ongoing for the state water scheme, including Nnewi, as going back to the basics and way to go.
Speaking earlier the Commissioner for Industry, Dr. Christian Udechukwu expressed satisfaction that a new thing is happening in Nnewi and asked the people of Nnewi to thank Governor Soludo for remembering the city, thinking about them and challenging them to key into development initiatives .
He pointed out that the name Nnewi is popular abroad, but has no visible developments to show for it and asked the people to select twenty people to develop a development age da for the city.
Earlier, the Transition Committee Chairman for Nnewi North Local Government Area, Engineer Chris Obiorah appreciated Governor Soludo for all his developmental projects in the area, including the road infrastructure, free education, free antenatal care and delivery services, among others.
