Laying of asphalt has been completed on the six-point-five kilometers Awkuzu-Umunya road in Oyi Local Government Area.

ABS Works Correspondent, Ngozi Obileri reports that the road project, which has eight months duration, was completed exactly eight months from the day it was started.

The Awkuzu Civic Center axis of the road where the road ended, coming from Umunya and where it started from Awkuzu axis was the last place asphalted.

Speaking on the development, the Transition Committee Chairman of Oyi Local Government Area, Mr Emmanuel Nweke, expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for wiping away their tears, as according to him, the road, especially the Ogbo-Mkpu John Ogwo spur, has claimed three lives before the Governor came to their rescue.

Mr Nweke thanked the Governor for fulfilling the promise he made to the people of the area, unlike other politicians who promised and failed them for the past forty years.

He also commended the contractors for timely completion of the job, and members of the community for taking ownership of the project and pointing out areas that needed amendment while the project was under construction.
