Two years after the inception of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration, significant improvements have started to spring up in Okpoko, a densely populated area in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
Governor Soludo during a visit to Okpoko yesterday commissioned twelve kilometers of roads out of the nine roads, representing fifteen kilometers he awarded, with an outstanding three kilometers of roads.
The Governor, accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, among others, was treated to a rousing welcome by Okpoko people of various age brackets.
Recall that a day after his swearing-in ceremony in Awka, Governor Soludo embarked on an inspection visit to Okpoko where he assured of breathing life into the community and equally embarked on inspection of Okpoko General hospital, first in the history of the community.
The Governor said that the Okpoko intervention is in fulfilment of the promises made by his administration to the people of the area who had been largely forgotten and abandoned by successive administrations.
While promising to construct the Nwokedi Road, he assured that in the coming days, the water scheme will come alive, and stressed that what his administration commenced in Okpoko is just the beginning of a major urban regeneration agenda of his government, emphasizing that there will be better schools and free education among others in Okpoko, calling on the people to support his administration to succeed.
He reiterated that the enthusiasm with which he campaigned and won the election was borne out of a desire to wipe tears and transform the lives of the people, including people in Ogbaru local government area.
Governor Soludo recalled how his administration commenced work from Okpoko, desilting the drainages filled with dirt, massive waste and sewage management, announcing to them that a free medical outreach is already ongoing at the Okpoko General hospital which is nearing completion, and called their attention to the ongoing intervention on the Atani-Ozubulu road which he described as strategic.
He stated that the road to Ogwuikpele is cut off and asked the contractor to either deliver or leave the site, as his government is an administration with a deadline.
The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze and the member representing Ogbaru Constituency One at the State House of Assembly, Honourable Noble Igwe, said that the Okpoko intervention is part of the promises made by the governor in 2022.
