Wisdom Science Academy, also known as Wisdom Mathematics Academy, Nise has held its maiden biannual inter-house sports competition.
The competition held at the Central School, Nise field, attracted pupils, parents, teachers and friends of the school, and featured inauguration of patrons, mathematics competition, sports of various kinds, display of skills in knitting of broom, unveiling of Akwete clothing material produced by the school and digital skills, among others.
The groups that featured in the inter-house sports competition included the Green, Red, White and Yellow houses directed by the Technical Director, Mr Bright Ofunne.
The Inter-house Sports Competition commenced with march pasts by the different houses, while the Proprietor of the school, Reverend Canon Basil Orji, alongside some special guests took the salute.
Giving a brief history of the school, the Proprietor, Reverend Canon Orji, recalled how the idea of the school was birthed even before he and his wife came together as husband and wife in 1998, but later took off on thirteenth September 2022 with a population of thirty-five pupils.
He explained that the school, presently in its second year and with a population of eighty-eight pupils, was approved by the Anambra State Government on thirteenth February 2024, and encouraged parents to bring their children and wards to the school as its future is bright.
Reverend Canon Orji mentioned some of the needs of the school to include refurbishing of the school bus, equipping of their music laboratory, band set and provision of modern table tennis.
In his remark, one of the guests, Venerable Silas Ike, described the school’s organizational skills as marvelous, impacting not only academic knowledge on pupils but also sports, crafts and digital skills.
The Chairman on the occasion, Mr Obiorah Okpalaojiego, represented by Mr Chukwujieke Ofonejere, spoke highly of the Proprietor and Proprietress of the school for their love for education which spanned over the years, adding that anyone who entrusts children to them has nothing to fear.
A retired Director at Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Mrs Josephine Eche, who urged parents to strive to invest in their children knowledge-wise, also called on parents to enroll their children at Wisdom Science AcademyNise, saying that the taste of the pudding is in the eating.
Master Munachimso Nweke in Basic six won in the mathematics competition.
