The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor has called on Christians to emulate the lifestyle of Jesus Christ in their daily lives.
Most Reverend Ezeokafor made the call in his homily at Saint Patrick’s cathedral Awka, during the 2024 chrism mass.
Bishop Ezeokafor reminded Christians that holy week requires them to abstain from sin and uphold righteousness in all their understandings for them to reap the blessings therein.
Most Reverend Ezeokafor also enjoined Christians, to always abide by the Anambra State burial law aimed at discouraging expensive burials in Anambra State, even as he charged parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children.
On his part, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Pauly Onyeka who represented Governor Chukwuma Soludo noted that Anambra State has witnessed unprecedented development in the last two years because his commitment has transformed all sectors and urged the church to continue to partner his administration to realise his vision of building a liveable, prosperous homeland.
At the chrism mass, Bishop Ezeokafor consecrated three oils, namely the holy chrism, oil of the catechumens and oil of the sick which will be used for this year.
All the clergy working in Awka Catholic Diocese also used the cathedraticum to renew their vows of obedience to Bishop Ezeokafor and commitment to serve God.
Parishes under Awka Catholic Diocese also used the cathedraticum to present gifts and foodstuffs to Bishop Ezeokafor.
