As Anambra joined the global community to Commemorate World Health Day yesterday, the Managing Director of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi has called on residents of the state to enroll into the scheme to benefit from their rights to health.

Health Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on the seventh April under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization, as well as other related organizations.

It is one of the eleven official global health campaigns marked by the WHO, along with World Tuberculosis Day, World Immunization Week, World Malaria Day, World No Tobacco Day, World AIDS Day, World Blood Donor Day among others.

Speaking on the significance of the day, Dr. Onyemaechi charged residents of the State to cease the opportunities provided them by the Anambra State Government to enroll in the Anambra State Health Insurance scheme to benefit from their rights to health which Governor Soludo’s government has done everything possible to protect.

Dr. Onyemaechi commended the Governor for the free maternal health programme instituted for the benefit of residents of the State.

The ASHIA boss noted that the construction of four brand new general hospitals in some places across the state with the most need for expansion of access to quality and affordable medical care without borrowing money by the State Government is highly commendable.

He therefore urged residents of Anambra to engage in a lifestyle that will promote healthy living and give them the best quality of life free of ailments.
