Anambra communities have been urged to support the ongoing restoration of public water supply in Anambra State by Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration by protecting water facilities in their areas.
Speaking in Awka, a former Managing Director of Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, ANSAA, Chief Jude Emecheta said this will further promote quality and healthy living.
Chief Emecheta noted that this will give Ndi Anambra and residents of the state easy access to clean and safe water which will reduce the spread of diseases and ensure hygienic and healthy environment, noting that the initiative would benefit all segments and strata of the society.
He said the Governor has continued to implement projects that impact directly on the life of the people and have multiplier effects on socioeconomic growth of the state.
Chief Emecheta recalled that the state has been without functional pipe borne water supply for many decades which forced people to rely mostly on boreholes with attendant health challenges.
He noted that the project will also reduce the economic burden of sourcing and buying water for various uses daily as well as enhance sanitation and hygiene in various homes, schools, hospitals, markets and other public spaces and call on communities to ensure that the facilities are properly secured to serve the people.
Chief Emecheta enjoined road contractors and property developers to ensure that underground pipes are well protected while executing their jobs to avoid cutting of supply to some parts of the state.
He commended Governor Soludo for prudent management of available resource in distributing quality democracy dividends to the people.
