The Parish Priest of Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish Awka, Reverend Father Francis Oranye, has advised fathers to be strategic in providing leadership at family level in order to ensure the good of all members.
In his sermon at a holy mass to mark the 2024 Father’s Sunday of the Catholic Church, Reverend Father Oranye said there is the need for fathers to rekindle the fire of love among family members, which will in turn help in making the world a better place for all.
Regretting that Igbo traditional family values are fast eroding, the Priest emphasized that man and woman need each other for continuation of life, adding that imbibing ‘give and take’ attitude will guarantee peace at home.
In his remark, the Chairman of Catholic Men Organization, CMO, Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish Awka, Professor Clement Ezeanyeji, tasked mothers to assist fathers in rededicating themselves to the services to God and humanity, and commended the Parish Priest for energizing fathers spiritually on the occasion.
Among other members of the Anambra State Executive Council that attended the mass, Commissioner for Housing, Honourable Paully Onyeka, who noted that a good society is a function of many good homes, described the 2024 Father’s Sunday as a day of stocktaking for fathers.
Former Director of News and Current Affairs of the ABS, Mr Gab Okpaleze, also attended the mass, after which members of the CMO visited Priest’s Welfare Home to celebrate with aged priest of the Awka Catholic Diocese.
