The Chairman, Anambra State Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC, Awka, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu has charged Principals of secondary schools to perform their managerial functions effectively or be removed.
She gave the charge while monitoring some schools in Onitsha, Nkwelle Ezunaka and Obosi.
The schools visited include, Model Comprehensive Secondary School, Nkwelle Ezunaka, Community High School, Nkwelle Ezunaka, Washington Memorial Secondary School, Onitsha and Awada Secondary School, Obosi.
At Model Comprehensive Secondary School Nkwelle Ezunaka, Professor Ikediugwu, who met the absence of the Principal, Mrs. Agnes Oraedu was taken round the school by the Vice- Principal, Mrs. Ngozi Mbaneso where most of the classes were with teachers but students were seen in three different school uniforms.
The Chairman warned that they should always adhere to the school uniform of the day and summoned the principal to proceed to PPSSC headquarters in Awka for explanations.
At Community High School, Nkwelle Ezunaka, the PPSSC Chairman met the Principal Mrs. Ngozi Okafor and observed that most of the classes were on session, while at Washington Memorial Secondary School, Onitsha, the Principal, Mrs. Nkechi Nkem was on seat and some of the teachers who were not seen in their different classes were also asked to proceed to the headquarters of PPSSC to collect their queries.
The case at Awada Secondary School, was unbelievable as the Principal, Mrs. Lilian Ikegwuonu was not around as at 12:44pm, and there was no class with a single teacher and nobody was controlling the activities of the school and the PPSSC’s boss therefore summoned the principal to the headquarters of PPSSC with all the teachers that should be in class.
Professor Ikediugwu equally warned that henceforth, no student should be seen copying notes on the white or chalkboard, even as she monitored the activities of Healthy Living Club with Nonye Soludo; the healthy living garden and pad banks in the two schools where she met their principals.
