The Anambra State Government through Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, has sealed hotels and business premises for disobedience to court summons.

Most of the affected businesses are located in Awka and its environs.

The sealing of the premises comes after weeks of court notices were served by the agency and the Ministry of Environment to them.

The Managing Director of OCHA Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere lamented the flagrant disobedience to environmental laws by some hotels and leisure centre operators in Awka.

He said that the enforcement was due to a public outcry over the environmental nature of the areas where the businesses are located, while noting that the issue of disobeying environmental laws has become a perennial problem that is posing a serious threat to the sanity of the society.

Comrade Anere noted that more enforcement teams have been created to avail residents of the state the opportunity to report any environmental issues in their areas and that they are poised to safeguarding and upholding every government policy that will promote the vision of a clean, green, healthy, livable and prosperous homeland in the state.
