The grand finale of Solution Games Tournament has been held at Umuchu Mini Stadium, Aguata Local Government Area. The event organized by Aguata Chapter of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, was hailed to be a veritable tool in engaging the youths and discovering talents.

 

The tournament, which was brought to a close with a football match between teams from Aguata Council Area, divided into Aguata North and South attracted many spectators who came to enjoy the thrilling encounter.

Coordinator of NYCN in Aguata Council Area, Mr. Mmaduabuchi Ezeokafor, explained that the tournament was to honour and support Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his giant strides in governance, especially with his youth friendly approach and involving youths as part of decision-making process as well as appointing them into key positios in his cabinet.

 

Mr. Ezeokafor commended the Governor for living up to his manifesto by providing employment for youths through the “One youth two skills” initiative, and employment of young teachers, pointing out that efforts are on to make the tournament an annual event in order to continue providing platform for youths interaction and discovery of talents.

In his remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Council Area, Dr. Chibueze Ofobuike, appreciated the Aguata Chapter of the NYCN for championing the sports event for the fourteen communities in the area, making it a platform for engaging the youths positively and discovering talents.

 

Chairman of the event and former Commissioner for Public Utilities in the state, Engineer Emeka Ezewanne, represented by Mr. Chukwuka Nwankwo, noted that the event would promote healthy interaction amongst youths of the council area, and expressed happiness over the gesture.

Anambra State Chairman of the NYCN, Mr. Emeka Obi, who emphasized that the organization encourages such youthful engagement amongst its chapters, appreciated Aguata chapter of the NYCN for being proactive, and the state government for also being supportive of youths.

 

Others who spoke during the event, including the state APGA Youth Leader, Dr. Tochukwu Obiadi, President of CYON Ekwulobia Diocese, Mr. Chinedu Nweke, and the Public Relation Officer of NYCN Aguata chapter, Mr. Kelechi Okpala, emphasized that the event would make great impact in the lives of the youths, adding that state government has achieved much while being youth friendly.

The football competition ended zero-zero between the two teams after full time of play, and six-four after penalty shootout in favour of Aguata North.

 

There were also Tug of War between Man O’ War organization and Royal Rangers, as well as wheel chair race for the physically challenged.

 

Other games featured during the event were swimming, lawn tennis, chess, volleyball amongst others, while certificate and medal presentation to winners brought the event to a close.
