As the global community marked the 2024 International Day of the Boy Child, a group known as African Women Lawyers Association, Awka branch has taken value reorientation campaign to Community Secondary School, Okpuno; in commemoration of the event.

Addressing students of the school at the school field, the Anambra State Coordinator of the association, Mrs. Amaka Ezeno, said the visit was to speak to them on the theme of the event, “Focus on the health and wellness of the boy child”.

She reminded the boys that any boy child that is capable of dreaming is capable of achieving success in life, and that any boy child that is capable of taking care of himself today by abstaining from alcoholism, gangsterism, cultism, shunning exam malpractices in schools and other societal ills is also capable of being announced as a successful man in future.

To encourage the boys to study hard for a better and successful future, the association announced endowment fund for overall best male student in JSS 1 in the school.

Principal of the school, Mrs. Maureen Onwuemenam, represented by the Vice Principal, Administration, Mrs. Monica Machi, described the visit by members of the association as a big encouragement to the students, especially the boys, to aim higher in life for the betterment of the society, adding that making quick money has become a great challenge to the pursuit of formal education among the boy child.

Students of the school, including Masters Dominion Iloenyosi and Boniface Mbaba, said what they gathered from members of the association have strengthened their resolve to remain focused in life, and promised to extend the message to their friends.
