It was an emotion-laden moment as the remains of the Late Mrs Victoria Agulue-Okoye were lowered to mother earth at Osile village, Ogbunike in Oyi council area of the state.
The late Mrs Agulue-Okoye, until her death at the age fifty-nine, was a staff of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, where she rose to the rank of Assistant Director.
She was also devoted Christian and philanthropist.
Her country home in Osile Ogbunike was a Mecca of sort during the burial ceremony, as members of staff of the NYSC and corps members from across the country, her friends and family members who, amidst tears and sorrows, prayed God to the deceased eternal life.
In a sermon during burial service, the officiating Priest, Reverend Ifeanyi Chukwuma; of Our Saviour Church, Ogbunike warned Christians against backbiting and unnecessary enmity.
According to him, the late Mrs Agulue-Okoye has completed her journey on earth and now awaits judgment, and asked mourners to use the burial ceremony to reflect on their lives and amend their ways.
In their condolence message to the family of the deceased, the NYSC, through their spokesperson, Mr Paul Okechukwu, recounted the impactful life of service and leadership of deceased, and promised that they will continue to uphold her legacies in Rivers State where she served.
Also in their condolence messages, the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu, and an in-law to the deceased, Mr. Roy Ekwunife; also of the ABS, said the death of the Late Mrs Agulu-Okoye is a huge loss to her loved ones, and comforted them to take solace in God.
On their parts, the daughter of the deceased, Favour Agulue-Okoye, and a relative of the deceased, Dairen Anumba, described her as a beacon of light to many; as she gave her all to humanity.
In a vote of thanks, the eldest brother of the deceased, Dr. Emmanuel Anumba, expressed appreciation to God for the life of his sister; whom he described as one that attained great heights when she was alive, and used her positions for the betterment of the society.
The burial ceremony climaxed with interment and condolence visits by his family members, friends and relatives.
