Saint Michael School field, Awgbu, in Orumba North Local Government Area was a beehive of activities as friends, family members, political heavyweights, captains of industry, men and women of valour converged as Awgbu Progress Union, APU, received one of their illustrious sons, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, who is the Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Speaking during the event, Governor Soludo represented by the Secretary to Anambra State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, described Mr. Ezeajughi as an integral part of his administration and appreciated Ndi Awgbu for the honour done to him.
The Governor who noted that his government has done tremendously well in building a new Anambra that will be liveable and prosperous, maintained that government cannot do it alone, hence his administration’s adoption of Public Private Community Partnership, PPCP, model, calling on Ndi Awgbu and Anambra in general to key into the novel model.
In his welcome address, the President General of Awgbu Progress Union, Mr. Emmanuel Akidi, thanked Mr. Ezeajughi for placing their community in the global map through his personal achievements, as he was the first black Mayor of the London Borough of Brent and now holding the highest political office in the community’s political history.
Mr. Akidi made it clear that Ndi Awgbu are proud of Governor Soludo’s Chief of Staff as 0well as his numerous achievements in their community, adding that Awgbu people are grateful to Governor Soludo saying his administration has brought significant development to the state and Awgbu in particular.
Earlier, Mr. Ezeajughi who thanked Ndi Awgbu for the honour done him, explained that Governor Soludo has an administrative agenda that does not want to leave anybody behind, that looks after the downtrodden, train and empower the youths among numerous others.
The Chief of Staff, assured his people that the Governor will construct the Awgbu-Amaetiti-Ndiukwuenu road, and thanked the APU and all those that made the event a success for a job well done.
He added that he will not take their sacrifices for granted, and called on Awgbu community to unite in order to continue moving forward.
The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, the All Progressives Grand Alliance Candidate for Anambra Central in the 2023 senatorial election, Honourable Dozie Nwankwo, the Anambra State Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Anthony Ifeanya, the immediate past Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Local Government Area, Comrade ThankGod Anago, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Sir Chido Obidiegwu were among numerous dignitaries that honoured the event.
