Anambra State Oil and Gas Producing Areas’ Development Commission, ANSOPADEC billv, has passed third reading at the state House of Assembly.

 

The House passed the bill during yesterday’s plenary session after it underwent thorough consideration at the Committee of the Whole, following the report of the joint committee on Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Committee on Environment.

The Majority Leader of the House, Sir Ikenna Ofodeme, moved the motion for the third reading and was seconded by the Deputy Minority Leader, Honourable Nobel lgwe.

 

This bill aims to promote sustainable development in oil-producing areas and foster growth in the state.

The Speaker of House, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, who commended the lawmakers for ensuring speedy passage of the bill, announced that the bill will become law from 27th June, 2024 after Governor’s assent.

 

In a similar development, a bill for a law to ensure the safety and protection of markets in Anambra state was also passed third reading at the House.

The bill aims to ensure safety of traders and property, such as ensuring quick response and protection in case of an inferno.
