The Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, has emphasized the importance of choice-making in an individual’s life.

In a message delivered on his behalf at Saint Peter’s Parish, Amawbia, in Awka South Local Government Area, during a special service to mark the 2024 Youth Sunday in Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Ibezim regretted that many people make wrong choices, which hinder their future success and charged youths to aspire to make the right choices to achieve success in life.

Most Reverend Ibezim, who described youths as future leaders of both the church and larger society, tasked the federal government on creating more youth-friendly programmes to enable the young generation assert their role properly as future leaders.

He deemed the theme of the 2024 Youth Sunday in Awka Anglican Diocese, “I will arise and go back to my father”, as apt, considering the gradual return of youths to idolatry.

Most Reverend Ibezim, whose message was read by Reverend Ugochukwu Edokwe, co-ordinator of the Anglican Youth Fellowship in the church, urged members of the Anglican Youth Fellowship, AYF, to live lives aligned with their motto, “Towards a perfect Man”.

The head of the Anglican Church in Anambra State described the Holy Trinity as the foundation of the church and encouraged Christian parents to involve their children in church activities to catch them young for Christ.

Most Reverend Ibezim lamented the injustices, insecurity, banditry and hunger in a richly blessed country and called on the federal government to revamp the economy to secure a bright future for Nigeria.

Later, the Archdeacon of Amawbia Archdeaconry and Vicar of Saint Peter’s Parish Amawbia, Venerable Vincent Nkemdilim, thanked Archbishop Ibezim and his wife, Dr. Chioma, for their efforts in redirecting youths towards moral rectitude. He urged youths to take their Bible studies and academics seriously to become useful citizens.

The service featured prayers and a drama by the Anglican Youth Fellowship members, depicting the role of a Christian youth in the society.
