Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has called on churches to continue to pray and combine efforts with the government for the betterment of the society.

The Governor made the call at Immanuel Anglican Church, Ekwulumili, Nnewi South Local Government Area, during the first session of the sixth Synod of the Diocese of Amichi.

Governor Soludo represented by his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim while restating the commitment of his administration towards fighting crime in the State, encouraged Christians not to relent in praying for the state and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, assuring that his administration will continue to fight crime and criminality in the state for the safety of the residents.

 

Professor Soludo assured Ndi Anambra that his administration will continue to ensure adequate distribution of democracy dividends across the State, disclosing that more good things are yet to be witnessed in the state under his leadership.

He then called on parents, especially the mothers to always imbibe the tenets of good parenting in their children’s upbringing, attributing most of the ill practices and evil in today’s society to poor parenting and carelessness of some parents and guardians.

In a remark, the Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Right Reverend Ephraim Ikeakor commended Governor Soludo on his good leadership style and people-oriented programmes and policies, and appealed to him to closely monitor contractors handling all the road projects in the State to ensure they execute quality work that can stand the test of time.

Earlier in a sermon, the retired Bishop of Isikwuato-Umunochi Anglican Diocese, Abia state, Right Reverend Sam Chukwuka whose sermon centered on the theme of the event which was “Idolatry: Causes, Consequences and Cure”, warned Christians against idol worshipping, an act he said separates man from God both here on earth and in eternity.
