Anambra State government and her development partners have ended a two-day workshop aimed at designing a strategic work plan for effective, efficient and robust creative industry in the State.

 

Tagged “Anambra State Creative Economy Consultative Value Chain Mapping”,

the event held in Awka drew representatives from Ministries, Departments and agencies where discussion on how to map the various sectors in the creative economy such as film and video, fashion design and modeling, music production and distribution and content creation took the centre stage.

 

Speaking during the event, he Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji stated that it will help the state government in assisting all sectors in doing the needful to harness each of their potential.

According to Mr. Onyenji, the event which drew participants from government and the private sector, will establish the backgrounds for engagement and take decisions on the expectations of the government to ensure that the creative sector in Anambra is fully mapped.

He appreciated the partnership with Technology for Social Change and Development, and assured of the continued partnership of the government to ensure full implementation of communique realised from the conference.

 

For the Senior Researcher and Policy Manager Technology for Social Change and Development, Mr. Mr. Immanuel Umukoro, their vision is to equip Africans with skills that foster economic prosperity, financial freedom and sustainable development in the area of digital technology.

Mr. Umukoro described Anambra as hub for creativity, saying that the state is ready for more investments to strengthen the creativity economy and contribute to the economy development.

 

In a paper presentation, the Research and Policy Lead Technology for Social Change and Development, Miss Victoria Oletu, said that the agency seeks to create opportunities and platforms for the people to access decent work and entrepreneurship through digital skills empowerment
