The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, Dr. Joe Akabuike has decried the nineteen point five million monthly bills by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, saying that the hospital cannot afford to pay it.
Dr. Akabuike who said that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s investment in the health sector has started yielding positive results, disclosed this while speaking to the ABS
Health Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye and maintained that the administration of Governor Soludo has giving maximum attention to the health needs of Ndi Anambra.
He commended the Governor for his massive support and intervention in both the primary, secondary and tertiary health institutions in the state, describing it as a step in the right direction.
According to Dr. Akabuike, the ongoing construction and renovations of general hospitals, renovations of primary healthcare centres in all the three hundred and twenty-six electoral wards in the state, as well as the support giving to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, are indications that Governor Soludo has giving serious priority to the health needs of the residents of the state.
The Chief Medical Director made it clear that the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital has been going comprehensive transformation both in infrastructure and service delivery under the administration of Governor Soludo.
He listed Service Compart with all Nigerians, SERVICOM, that allows patients to tell how he or she was treated in the hospital, E-medicine which allows for patients to see medical professionals without stress, construction of Consultant Lounge, renovation of Dental Department, electrification of the hospital which brightens the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital environment in the night for effective service delivery among others as some of the interventions in the hospital under his leadership.
Dr. Akabuike also commended Governor Soludo for the employment of about one thousand health workers, especially those posted in the Primary Healthcare Centres, as one of the ways to make health care services delivery accessible and affordable to Ndi Anambra.
