Mr. Chinedu Fidelis has emerged as the new President General of Awba-Ofemmili Development Union, Awka North Local Government Area.

 

 

 

Mr. Chinedu scored two hundred and eighty votes to beat his closet opponent, Mr. Ignatius Okafor who polled fifty-eight votes in an election conducted by the officials from the Anambra State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs and was monitored by different security officials in the state.

 

 

 

Congratulating the new president general on the victory, the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North Local Government Area, Comrade ThankGod Anago, urged him to use his new position to bring peace and development to the community.

 

 

 

Comrade Anago, who charged him not to discriminate against any person or group of persons in the community under any guise, appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon. Tonnycollins Nwabunwanne, His Homeland Affairs counterpart, Chief Chikodili Anara for their roles in ensuring a peaceful and successful election.

 

 

 

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Chinedu thanked Governor Soludo, Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, Chief Anara and Nwabunwanne of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs for their good jobs, and promised not to disappoint his people.

 

 

 

He appealed to Ndi Awba-Ofemmili to give him and his executive maximum support and call them to order each time they erred for the continuous improvement and development of the community.

 

Others who spoke during the exercise, including the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Ezekwesili Mmduagwuna also congratulated Mr. Chinedu and advised him to work in line with Governor Soludo’s administration’s policies and programmes to bring development to their community.

 

 

Officials from the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) were among groups and associations that monitored the election.
