Sports Ambassador to Nigeria on Rugby, Princess Alban Ugonwezeh-Agugo, has celebrated her achievements in the sports sector.

 

Correspondent Joseph Egbeocha reports that the event held in Awka, the Anambra State capital, was chaired by Engineer Arinze Anyadiegwu.

It featured unveiling of magazine, and had in attendance members of Adazi-Nnukwu community led by their President General, Engineer Cyril Anaeto.

 

Speaking, a Chieftain of the Labour Party in the state, Dr. Valentine Ozigbo, who called on government at all levels to pay more attention to sports, technology and entertainment in order to meaningfully engage the youths, also enjoined the youths and Ndị Anambra to be proud of the celebrant.

Immediate past Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area and National Convener, Great Soludo Patriots in Anambra, Mr Gerald Ozoh, who recalled how the celebrant organized “Anaocha Marathon” sometime in the past as Special Adviser to the Local Government on Youth and Sports Development, said she has been an inspiration to youths.

President General of Adazi-Nnukwu Town Development Union, Engr Anaeto, said the celebrant has remained committed and consistent in nurturing talents and equipping young ones in the community with skills, and encouraged youths to engage in sports for all-round well-being.

 

Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Engr. Anyadiegwu, encouraged people to have interest in sports because it is one of the best ways of improving one’s health conditions.

In her remark, the Adazi-Nnukwu, Anambra-born Rugby star, Princess Alban who recalled her journey into fame in sports, urged youths to be inspired by her success stories.

 

Princess Alban who is a member of Nigeria Olympic Committee and Proprietor of Princess Alban Sports and Youth Development Academy, among others, said she is into grassroot sports development, and encouraged the state to do more to encourage youth participation in sports.

The Chairperson, Nigeria Olympic Committee, Women Commission, Professor Florence Adeyanju, and a philanthropist, Chief Mrs Ngozi Obikwelu, were among those that attended the event that also featured performance by cultural troupes from Adazi-Nnukwu.
