Eight persons have been ordained catholic priests by the Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor at Saint Patrick’s cathedral, Awka.
The Reverend Fathers who underwent various stages of ordination took the oaths of poverty, chastity and obedience to God and Bishop Ezeokafor.
In a homily, Most Reverend Ezeokafor described priesthood as a special vocation meant for those who are prepared to work God and humanity.
The Catholic Bishop charged the Reverend Fathers to keep the vows they made before God and church by living the life of chastity, poverty and obidient to the word of God and the teachings of the church.
Most Reverend Ezeokafor thanked God for the lives of the Reverend Fathers who chose God’s work over worldly possessions and enjoined the church to always support their calls through prayers for them to excel in their vocation.
Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the ordained priests are Reverend Fathers Paul Akabogu, Elias Obikwelu, Victor Ejie, Damian Chibueze, Anthony Okoyeatu, Paschal Omaha, Lawrence Akwuba and Kingsley Igboanugo.
