A twelve point seven million naira worth of Principal’s House and Corpers Lodge has been completely renovated at Ezeike High School Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area, and handed over to the Anambra State government.

 

The complete renovation of the project was funded by Chief Ignatius Aguowo in partnership with I.G. Aguowo Health and Academic Foundation.

the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh commissioned the projects at the premises of Ezeike High School. The project comprises redesigning of interiors of the building, resulting to four bedroom and three bedroom apartments, introduction of more modern facilities, renovation of four Boys quarters, installation of overhead tank with water system, re-roofing of the building, re-plumbing of the entire building among others.

 

Chief Aguowo who is an illustrious son of the community and alumni of the school, in his remarks, explained how he sought approval from the Commissioner for Education to renovate the building which was granted and noted that he has a burning passion for provision of access to quality education for the less privileged and said that he loves what Governor Chukwuma Soludo is doing in the education sector, adding that he has over four hundred students under his scholarship scheme.

He appreciated the Commissioner for always giving him attention whenever he approaches her office and told her that he is going to bring another application to intervene at Nneoma Community Secondary School Nibo, assuring Professor Chuma-Udeh of his continuous support to her ministry.

 

Professor Chuma-Udeh in her response appreciated the benefactor and the town, describing Nibo as a progressive community that thinks about their children’s welfare and called on every resident of the state to partner with the state government in developing the state.

Professor Chuma-Udeh commended Chief Aguowo for speeding up the renovation of the project and revealed that she has sent twelve additional teachers to the school to beef up the staff strength, even as she charged the principal to ensure that the building is always in good shape.

 

The Chairman, Anambra State Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu disclosed that the laboratory equipment provided by government for schools in the state will only be given to those whose schools are fenced and promised that the equipment for Nibo community would be given to them since they have already fenced their school.

The President-General of Nibo Union, Professor Tony Nwokoye explained that the Principal’s House and Corpers’ Lodge have been dilapidated and abandoned for the past twenty-five years before Chief Aguowo stepped in to renovate it to the present state and appealed that the building would be put into good use.

Official commissioning and inspection of the project brought the event to a close.
