Anambra State Commissioner for Special Duties, Mrs. Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche has charged women to use this year’s August meeting to initiate plans and programmes towards societal reforms.

 

Mrs. Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche who is worried at the level of moral decadence and social vices which are being witnessed in the society today, was of the opinion that women can lead the charge for social and value reorientation if they make it a priority during this August meeting.

 

While wishing Anambra women successful deliberations at this year’s August meeting, the Commissioner also asked the women to use this occasion to raise awareness on the importance of protecting child right and the Violence Against Persons Prohibition.

 

She said this is necessary as women remain major culprits in violence against children who are being kept as house helps, emphasizing that there is need for a collective action by women against the menace.

 

The Special Duties Commissioner recalled that the wife of the Governor of Anambra and Founder of Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo, Mrs. Nonye Soludo had, on the second edition of August Meeting on Radio called on women to also use the August meeting to empower their fellow women with skills to become self reliant, stating that this will help them support their families especially in this time of economic downturn.

 

She also emphasized the importance of the women to imbibe Mrs. Soludo’s calls for healthy living, which she said will help them keep up with the huge challenges of homes making.
