Southeast Governors have been urged to emulate Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Farm to Feed initiative to achieve food security for the zone.

Speaking in Awka, an APGA chieftain, Dr Mike Omenugha said the programme would provide permanent solution to economic hardship.

Paul Ezeoke reports that Dr Omenugha said the Initiative would enable the state achieve sufficiency in food production, end hunger, poverty and economic hardship as well as create steady sources of income and employment opportunities for families.

He noted that this would effectively tackle the challenge of crime and social vices as youths and other members of the society would now be actively engaged in productive ventures.

According to Dr Omenugha, it would also stimulate industrial development as some of the agricultural products would serve as ready raw materials for industries that would attract investors to various parts of the state, which according to him would increase growth in all sectors.

He noted that Anambra State and other parts of the Southeast zone have enough arable land for massive agricultural activities to achieve the set goals.

Dr Omenugha who is a former Town Union President in Nnobi, urged community leaders to encourage their people to embrace the programme to enjoy the benefits and continue to support the Governor to do more.

Also speaking, a community leader, Chief Nnamdi Onyema noted that Ndigbo should look inwards to become self-reliant and overcome the present economic crisis in the country.

Chief Onyema commended Governor Soludo for sustaining pace of development across the State.
