The Managing Director, Anambra State ICT Agency, Mr Fred Agbata, has emphasized that the agency is committed to building and deepening the e-governance capacity of the state government.
Mr Agbata disclosed this when he received the Anambra state House of Assembly Committee on Information at the Agency’s base at the Government House in Awka.
Mr Agbata, elaborated on the state’s progress in digital infrastructure, noting that Governor Soludo has removed the Right of Way, RoW, charges, which has encouraged infrastructure companies to work with the state which according to him has yielded significant improvement.
During the visit, Mr Agbata, highlighted ongoing efforts of the agency to expand broadband access in partnership with a provider, installed internet in the Secretariat and have extended the service to public places like Aroma, Eke Awka, Ifite, and Book Foundation.
He appreciated the committee for the visit which he said underscores the critical collaboration between the legislative and executive arms in driving technological progress and ensuring effective governance in the state and assured that the agency will continue to champion “technology everywhere and everything technology” initiative of Governor Soludo.
Earlier, the Chairman of the committee and member representing Onitsha South one Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Honourable Fred Ezenwa, noted that the objective of the visit was to get a comprehensive knowledge of the agency’s operational policy, discuss the challenges and fashion out best ways to achieve greater results within the framework and ambits of the law.
Other members of the committee present during the visit include Honourable Jude Akpua representing Njikoka II Constituency, Honourable Justice Azuka representing Onitsha North one Constituency and Honourable Patrick Udoba representing Anambra West.
