Heads of different security agencies in Anambra State have presented a joint Security Master Plan for the five thousand seven hundred and twenty polling units in the three hundred and twenty-six electoral wards in the state to the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, ANSIEC.

 

The document is geared towards achieving a hitch free local government election come twenty-eight September.

The service chiefs made the presentation through the Commissioner for Police, Mr. Nnaghe Itam at the State Police headquarters in Amawbia.

 

According to Mr Itam, the security master plan is their operational guideline for the twenty-one Local Government Areas drawing strength from the Police, the Military, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Federal Road Safety Commission, Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Man O’ War among others.

He said the plan targets to provide at least two to four security officers in each polling unit based on resources available.

 

Mr Itam also revealed that they are looking at bringing in more security operatives into the state to ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.

He assured the public that with the Security master plan fully implemented, the September twenty-eight local government election will become a huge success.

Earlier, the Chairman of Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, Mrs Genevieve Osakwe a Magistrate appreciated the service chiefs for their partnership and solicited for more support as Governor Chukwuma Soludo places high priority on free, fair and credible polls as a way to restore security and ensure massive developments in all parts of the State.
