Rotary club of Awka Central has installed Mr Ekene Agubata as its president for the 2024-2025 Rotary year.

The ceremony which took place in Awka also featured induction of new members, presentation of awards to some individuals who have impacted humanity positively.

Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim completes reports that Mr Agubata who is the eleventh president of the club took over from Professor Chidozie Ezezue.

In his acceptance speech after taking the oath of office and allegiance, Mr Agubata explained that within one year he will pilot the affairs of the club, he will execute impactful projects like community economic development, youth empowerment, clean up services at different locations in Awka, arresting maternal and child mortality among others, even as he urged all members of the club and their lovers to give him all the necessary support to succeed.

Earlier, in his valedictory speech, the immediate past President of the club Professor Ezezue noted that the club succeeded under his leadership despite the challenges it faced and advised the new president to be diplomatic in his activities and serve with wisdom and humility in order to achieve his vision for the club, assuring that he is solidly behind him.

In his remarks, the President of Rotary club of Awka, Dr Nwabufo Nwankwo said that Rotary club of Awka central made the right choice in Mr Agubata as he has the capacity to take the club to greater heights.

Some of the awardees at the ceremony including Mrs.Chinwe Ezeanya who commended the charity work Rotary renders to humanity, promised to continue to support their activities.
